Michelle Mouton

This is a spot Bob Ranew and I created for Audi. It featured Michelle Mouton, a rally car driver in the 70’s and 80’s - the hay day of rally racing when there were no limits for engine size and speed. Much to the annoyance of many of the male drivers, she won numerous races - doing so with a ton of attitude. Imagine a young Madonna driving a race car and you’ll start to get the idea. Given the length of some of the ultra-long-distance races and the utter insanity and punishment to both driver and car involved in rally racing at the time, rally car drivers were considered the best and most technical drivers in the world. Which means, this lone woman in a male-dominated sport - this tiny, crazy, loud French girl - was arguably one of the best race drivers on the planet. Fantastic. It was such a pleasure to work with her. Directed by the wonderful Jeff Zwart. Produced by my beautiful wife, Cathy.
