Graphis Gold Winner

SHOWGIRLS WINS GRAPHIS GOLD. Graphis recently announced that my Showgirls series won gold in their new Photography Annual. To say I was thrilled when I got the news is a vast understatement, as my head inflated to about the size of my studio. In fact, I was so excited I immediately told my whole family. My youngest daughter responded by saying, ”That’s great, Dad. I guess that means you’re kind of a big deal on fairly irrelevant social media sites that falsely inflate egos, huh?” Wow. Where did that come from? My eldest daughter responded by saying, “I love you, too, Dad, but did you know that the world population is 7,584,145,542, so don’t act all high and mighty and irreplaceable and stuff, okay?" Er, okay, Sweetie. And my wife responded by saying, “That’s great, Honey. But there's no prize money, right? You just paid them to enter the show, correct?” Sheesh. You girls are harsh. But thank you so much anyway, Graphis, for giving me one beautiful but all-to-brief delusional moment of self-importance and basking in the sun before my wings were clipped.
