Above The World
Sometimes the sea seems the only safe place to be. Why is that? Is it because its vastness makes us and our problems feel so tiny and insignificant? Is it because we are born from water? And perhaps, as a result, are looking for some sort of rebirth out of water? I don’t know. All I know is that sailing out into the Persian Gulf on that glass-still morning was the closest to church I’ve ever been. So much so that I almost forgot I was supposed to photograph it all. I wish I was floating out there now, far from this life with all its sound and fury. Sigh.
